Last month I gave a two part presentation on plein air painting to the South Bay Art Association (SBAA) in Bellport.
SBAA was founded in 1956 to encourage the creation and appreciation of the visual arts. Their activities include monthly meetings with demonstrations, lectures, critiques, morning sketch groups, workshops in various media, exhibits, newsletters, and many other events.
Part one of my presentation focused on outdoor equipment choices from the classic French easel to the various contemporary pochade boxes. With the remaining time I demonstrated how I start a painting on location, with a focus on my palette of colors, medium and brushes.
